* Lokta paper is a type of paper produced using traditional, time-honoured methods in Nepal for Lamali garlands.
Manufacture: from bark from a shrub called «Daphne». This bark, when crushed and mixed with water, forms a paper pulp. The sheets of paper produced are stretched over large wooden frames and left to dry in the open air.
This paper was traditionally used by the Buddhist monks for their religious writings. The manufacturing method remains unchanged to this day. The paper is now dyed to offer a wider range of designs and choices.
