* Lokta paper is a paper made in a traditional and ancestral way in NEPAL for Lamali

Manufacture: from bark from a shrub called «Daphne». This bark, when crushed and mixed with water, forms a paper pulp. The sheets of paper produced are stretched over large wooden frames and left to dry in the open air.

This paper was traditionally used by the Buddhist monks for their religious writings. The manufacturing method remains unchanged to this day. The paper is now dyed to offer a wider range of designs and choices.

There’s a lovely contrast between the gold patterns and the different shades of blue and green. This one has found its place in my dining room, where it adds a bohemian touch.
